Anita Garza attended S.U.N.Y. College at Buffalo and earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree in Education with a focus on reading. Before moving to Texas, she was a classroom teacher in New York for nine years. She moved to Texas in 2007 and spent the next eleven years teaching for Alief ISD and Lamar CISD. Mrs. Garza decided to pursue a Master of Science in Education and this time she focused on Educational Leadership and Supervision. During the 2018-2019 school year, Mrs. Garza joined the Wharton ISD family as an Assistant Principal at Sivells Elementary School. 2020-2021 Mrs. Garza joined the Wharton Junior High School family as Assistant Principal.
Dr. Regina James graduated from Port Huron High School in Port Huron, Michigan. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education with a minor in Mathematics from Eastern Michigan University. Dr. James went on to receive her Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Prairie View A & M, and her Doctorate in Leadership and Management from Capella University. In 2006, Dr. James began serving as an Assistant Principal in Fort Bend ISD. She ventured to the United Arab Emirates, where she worked as an educational leader in curriculum and instruction for five years. Upon her return to the United States, she continued her career as an Assistant Principal for secondary schools, then joined the Wharton Tiger family in 2018. With 20 plus years in education, Dr. James is proud to serve the Wharton Junior High students, staff, and community. Her true beliefs are to ensure a safe environment for students and staff so that quality instruction can take place, and the students can be successful.
